VICTORIAN CHARM

The Claremont guest house is a semi-detached, extended Victorian property, built in late 1890’s.

Ideally located near to the promenade and a ten minute walk to St Anne’s town including the railway station.

We’re proud to have been awarded the highest national food hygiene rating of 5 Stars by Fylde Borough Council.

All food is freshly cooked to order and where possible, we source ingredients locally.

DELICIOUS BREAKFASTS

SEASIDE FUN

St Anne's remains a premier tourist destination for those wanting a little more refinement and comfort on their seaside break.

With its expansive beaches, pier, promenade gardens, 9 hole pitch’n’putt golf, cinema entertainment complex, swimming pool, boating pool, children’s play zones and beach huts there is an attraction for everyone.

The towns of St Annes-on-Sea and Lytham are very cosmopolitan with a diverse range of independent shops, restaurants, coffee shops and bars.

Golf is a big part of life in the towns of St Anne’s and Lytham and Royal Lytham St Anne’s Golf Course is still regarded as one of the finest courses in the world.

For amateur players The Fylde Council Doubles Tournament presents an opportunity to play four of Fylde’s best courses including Royal Lytham. For details contact chantelle.vickers@fylde.gov.uk

Royal Lytham proudly hosts many top events including the British Open on 11 occasions plus the Senior Men’s Open in 2019. In 2018 they hosted the Ladies Open for the third time. Events have also included The Ryder Cup twice and The Walker Cup once.

In addition there are three other golf courses; Lytham Green Drive, Fairhaven and St Anne’s Old Links all often incorporated as qualifying courses for other major competitions…

…making the area a major part of what is known as England’s Golf Coast.

GOLFING BREAKS

AT ONE WITH NATURE

For birdwatchers the area is ideal with the recently refurbished RSPB Discovery Centre at Fairhaven Lake perfectly placed at the Ribble estuary the most important single river estuary in the UK.

With the Spring migration you can see godwits, dunlins and plovers. In the Summer redshanks and shelducks who have not left to breed can be seen.

Autumn, possibly the estuary’s busiest time with tufted ducks and pochards and occasional birds of prey such as the sparrow hawk taking advantage of returning flocks of waders.  Then on the high tides of Winter pintails and curlews calling.

Whichever season you visit there’s always active birds and other wildlife to be seen.

Many visitors to the area are attracted to stroll around the very popular salt water Fairhaven Lake positioned directly on the coast next to the newly refurbished Granny’s Bay.

The area provides a variety of recreational facilities to suit all ages including for a small fee: Adventure Golf, boats, tennis, bowling green’s, tennis courts (grass & hard standing) and For Free: new children’s Pirate play area, a new Adventure Playground, Skate and BMX park.

Then after all this activity and fresh air pop in to the wonderful café for ice cream, cake or something more substantial.

ACTIVITIES & FUN

SPITFIRE MEMORIAL

At the far end of the lake an unusual sight of a full sized nine metre (30ft) long replica Spitfire aeroplane which “flies” over the lake.

This is built not only as a memorial to the pilots of the Second World War but also to the pilot who was flying the aircraft when it was shot down in 1941 Sgt Alan Lever-Ridings, who was known to have family connections in the area.

Everyone loves the vast walking opportunities in the area.

Nordic Walking is very popular on The Fylde coast with currently ten organised walks each week. Alison is a participant herself and can help you to book with a leader locally. Don’t forget your Freedom Card.

There’s also several miles of beach and of course the stunning sand dunes that run the length of the St Anne’s coastline.
