Situated just a 10-minute stroll away from St Annes town centre, we’re always enhancing our rooms and facilities to give you an unforgettable stay. Our Story and a little bit of history.
The Claremont St Annes guesthouse is a semi-detached, extended Victorian property, built in the late 1890s. While the history of the guesthouse itself remains a bit of a mystery, we’re lucky enough to have a photograph dating back to around 1905, showing the property in its early days. It's fascinating to see how little has changed in terms of the buildings along Derbe Road – it still retains much of the same character it had over a century ago.
Local records tell us that during the Second World War, many of the houses on Derbe Road, including ours, became home to airmen stationed at the nearby Warton Airfield. Today, that location is home to BAE Systems, which boasts the country’s longest runway. If you’re ever in the area, you might even spot fighter aircraft being tested over the marshland of Lytham.
A few years ago, we had the pleasure of meeting the former owners who used to run The Claremont in the 1960's. Back then, it was quite different. Guests would typically stay for a full week by the seaside, enjoying breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner, all at the guesthouse. During this time, the property was referred to as a hotel, as since it didn't have any ensuite's it had more rooms and accommodated a larger number guests.

While we may not know everything about the history of The Claremont St Annes, we feel incredibly fortunate to be part of its story, continuing the legacy of this beautiful Victorian building for future generations to enjoy.

Our mission is to restore and enhance the original features of this historic building, from removing plywood from original Victorian doors to reintroducing beautiful covings where they once existed. We take pride in upgrading the guesthouse with thoughtful touches, such as our Victorian-style metro tiled bathrooms, which feature elegant borders reminiscent of the period.
While we still have a journey ahead, we are committed to blending the best Victorian designs with modern comforts to create a welcoming atmosphere for our guests.
